The Power of Paper

Hello Again! With one seminar less than 24 hours away I figured it's time to let you all know about the next one coming up. When you take printing down to the very basics it is literally just ink on paper. So with only two main components, you better make sure you chose the best option for your project. "The Power of Paper" seminar is going to demystify your paper options. Maybe you are concerned about the environment and your footprint.... we will teach you about your options when it comes to going green with your paper choices. Maybe you let your current printer choose your paper because you just don't know what the difference is.... we will teach you about the differenciating factors in papers and what to look out for to ensure you are happy with the end product. Maybe you just want free lunch and a day out of the office...Shhh we won't tell! Come join us one and all for an educational excuse to play hooky from work. Here's the scoop:

November 13th
10am - 12pm (lunch will be provided)
331 S Patrick St., Alexandria, VA 22314
RSVP to Patti Dumas at pattid@hbp.com

Hope to see you there!

Lunch and Learn Seminar- Printing 101

Horray for free food and a day out of the office! We had our first of two Printing 101 Seminars last week and it was fantastic. We had over 20 people attend and eveyone left knowing a lot more than they did when they walked in. I think these seminars are great because they educate everyone and allow communication to prosper between the printers' and the print buyers'. I can speak from experience that it is a lot easier to get a job through the shop when both parties are on the same page and understand the same terminology and it's usage.

And the best part about this seminar is that we are repeating it again in October. So if you missed out on the September Seminar mark your calendar for October 23rd because you won't want to miss out on this one. Here's the deal:

October 23rd
12-2:30 pm
HBP, Inc. Offices
315 S. Patrick St.
Alexandria, VA 22314
FREE Food and Drink

All you need to bring is your smiling face, plenty of questions, and a wanting to learn more about printing. And I can tell you now, that if this time around is as fun as last month's seminar you are in for a fantastic fun afternoon. I do hope to see you there! Please RSVP to pattid@hbp.com.

Print Ameeeeeeerica!

Last Saturday I spent my day at work. And you know what, it wasn't as bad as it sounds. Amy, a colleague who is also a recent Clemson GC graduate, and I were asked to speak at Print America. Print America is a group that meets to discuss a certain aspect of the printing world at a different host location each year. This year HBP was the sponsor and the men attending (yes, this industry is prodominently men if you have not noticed yet) spent a beautiful weekend in Sheperdstown, WV discussing IT solutions, problems and new ideas as well as doing a critique of the HBP plant.

On Saturday Amy and I spoke about our education at Clemson, why we chose HBP, why we chose sales and our progress so far. It was interesting to see how engaged everyone was and how interested all the attendees were in finding out how they could hire young professionals to work for their company. I am proud of my education and it was exciting to share my sucesses with everyone. I think most in attendence were impressed with our knowledge base and I think after speaking with us many will look more indepth into getting interns or hiring young professionals right out of college.
And what is a conference without the nighttime activities? I have included a picture of Amy and I enjoying ourselves at the Charlestown Races where we all enjoyed some adult beverages and Amy and I were able to speak one on one with anyone who had more indepth questions. All in all it wasn't such a terrible way to spend a Saturday!
